Processes Buried

Processes buried in matter's history

cast shadows against clouds of tenuous mass

floating in gravity's weak demand,

condensing showers of stars

falling into orbits embracing each other,

creating confusions of momentum,

inviting opportunities for molecular evolution

in a growing sphere of frozen forces.

Folded ferns branching profusely,

each leaf a thousand hardy seeds,

crowd and deny patterns possible

within its own prolific structure,

spreading waves of simple reason

to every cell of encased space

bounded in a system of its own parts.

Summer life in its reckless growth,

bathing in the warmth of a turned earth,

takes the chances of the moment

with economica1 elegance learned

from a million seasoned lessons.

The clever organs, breathing, beating

to a rhythm of common sense,

produces symphonies of dependence;

interlocking strategies of survival

that seek complexity's natural limits

within time's stingy storehouse,

always bleeding precious drops

blazing a path lost in the sky.
