The Spark Travels

A tilting orb shivers and shifts
Through Inclination's random cycles;
Small degrees raining light
On Potential's active skin.

Swollen polar caps collapse;
Retreating curtains dragging away
Rivers rushing in polished valleys;
Fresh winds for erosion freed.

Better the ocean's drift
Cracks the smooth surface
Of evolution's easy consistency
With rims of liquid fire.

Kangaroos leaping in circles,
Koalas waving bye bye;
Snails hurry from yawning trenches,
Earth wheels beneath sliding feet.

Continental bridges crumble behind
Fire seekers returning with secrets;
Laughing in irony the spark travels
Across a new, convoluted landscape.

By the nightly glow
Dream dramas are invaded
With warm eyes expanding
In soft, pliable skulls.

Through the weightless dark,
Upon a focus set at infinity,
Stars outline shadows projected
From an inner sun's rise.

Accidents of memory and skill
Build vacant niches quickly filled
With Abstraction's pregnant illusion:
The pressure of Entropy mid- wife and father.

Solid firmaments break away,
The Earth cast from any center:
Parallax soon becomes useless:
The night sky flushes with light.

Under a constant watch
The Planets release their thrones;
More children dance past disease;
The Atom opens its heart.

Launched with liquid fire,
Searching points of speeding machinery
Trail invisible tethers behind:
A funnel for the burst cosmos.

A young brother returning
With secrets from a neighbor star,
Finds his twin much aged:
Laughing in irony the spark travels.
