Artist’s comments:
This is one of the first prints on my newly acquired Epson 3800. I am very satisfied with the apparent resolution of the prints from this machine. They stand up to the magnifying glass very well.

The golden background figure color graduation in this print is very fine. The boarders of the graduations fade at slightly greater than normal viewing distance. The central wide banded area shows slight moiré patterns, which also tend to fade at greater than normal viewing distance when printed at 10 x 13 inches.

A mysterious artifact is shown in the concentric terminal nodes (biggest one is in the upper left portion of the image). There seems to be some vertical banding across the bull’s-eye patterns of the nodes, but only on the nodes to the left of the vertical center of the fractal. The nodes on the right side of the image do not show this banding. (This banding is barely apparent on the web site image.) I regenerated the fractal at large size (8000x6000) and zoomed in further to investigate this effect, to make sure it is really happening asymmetrically. The vertical banding effect is apparent until almost at the limit of the program resolution. I have no explanation for the asymmetrical nature of this effect. The mathematical or programmatic reason for this singular effect is unknown to me at this time. This fractal was generated with TIera-zon - Version 2.7.

There is more to this print than meets the eye. Just as in the Land of Oz, you have to look beyond the curtains, the curtains of human perception and understanding.
